At Penelec, we excel in comprehensive electrical contracting services that drive efficiency and sustainability. We specialise in expert solar farm electrical rectification and maintenance, ensure optimal operation of processing plants, and expertly install and construct automated systems.
This project involved the delivery of complex solutions while following strict safety protocols and adhering to project timelines. Key responsibilities included the installation of DC harnesses and strings, as well as additional tasks such as the installation and termination of combiner boxes.
· Project value $45M.
· 30 personnel on site.
· Incident free, no LTI.
Our operation worked on the electrical side of the cleaning and sorting of up to 50 tons of fresh carrots per hour.
· New factory – electrical installation.
· Upgrades to production line.
· Preferred contractor for all electrical maintenance since 2002.
· 16 personnel on site 24/7 during works to minimise production losses.
This project showcased the ability to effectively manage a large-scale solar energy initiative, ensuring high-quality outcomes throughout the project's lifecycle. After completion of the project, in partnership with O & M Solar Pty Ltd, we took on the operations and maintenance contract.
We were contracted to complete the electrical installation and commissioning processes for the relocated Iluka Processing Plant, offices, warehouses, and workshops, ensuring a seamless transition to the new location.
We were responsible for all aspects of electrical installations, maintenance, hulling, and other crucial electrical tasks at the Robinvale pistachio processing facility.
· Preferred Electrical Contractor forall plant installation, preventative and routine maintenance since 2015.
· 24/7 service support during harvest season.
While working for the EPC contractor, we focused on completing the construction of the substation, which is a critical component for the solar farm's operations. Once these works were finished, we transitioned to installing electrical systems on the solar farm.
Due to the EPC contractor's failure to deliver the project, Penelec provided a proposal to complete the work for the entire solar farm. After successfully completing and delivering an operational solar farm, we were asked to assist with the operations and maintenance of the facility. We supported Wirsol Energy for four years by providing electrical labour for the maintenance of electrical services and ground upkeep.
· Substation construction, including earth grid.
· Installation, termination of, HV, LV and SCADA cabling.
· Balance of Plant completion: module looming, combiner box terminations.
· Testing and commissioning (including pre-export)
· Scope included DC harness& string installation, Combiner box terminations.
· O&M services from 2018-2019 after which the works were taken over by in-house team.
We undertook extensive repairs to restore the solar panels that were damaged by fire. The works included repairing cables coming from underground to combiner boxes and replacement of damaged string cables and solar panels.
Our team worked diligently to repair the DC feeder cables. We focused on individual collector groups to maintain the solar farm’s export power above 90% during daytime operations. These completed works are essential in ensuring the solar farm operates efficiently for the coming decades.
We were involved in the careful repair of solar strings, while also addressing civil works and soil remediation to enhance the performance and safety of the site.
Our team successfully installed electrical systems to support a camp designed to accommodate 300 workers, facilitating their operations in construction and mining activities at the mineral sands site.
